Lightstick is a unique light source that does not need batteries or fire. It is very light and efficient.
Chemical lights can be used to mark the position during a night hike, to light up the nearest surroundings, as an alarm signal or as an emergency light source.
To start the lighting process, bend the stick with the thumbs of both hands until the inner vial breaks and then shake it. This is a combination of chemicals which, using the luminescence phenomenon, produce light of a certain color, depending on the dye. This phenomenon is unique in that no heat is generated during the whole process.
The luminescence process in chemical lights can be slowed down by placing a lightstick in the freezer.
